Report from the Aleutians (1943)
John Huston's Signal Corps account of the remote, fog-bound Aleutian campaign against Japan, tracking the day-to-day routine of servicemen on Adak Island through to a live bombing run over occupied Kiska.
Huston narrates Report from the Aleutians himself, joined on the soundtrack by his father Walter Huston; it won the Academy Award for Best Documentary and is notable for dwelling on the tedium and isolation of the Pacific war rather than combat spectacle.
