Privacy Policy

Short version: FreeFlix doesn't have accounts, doesn't require sign-in, and doesn't sell your data. We collect an email address only if you subscribe to the newsletter, and we only load analytics or advertising scripts after you say yes to them in the cookie banner.
What we collect
Browsing FreeFlix and watching a film does not require giving us any personal information. The only data we collect directly is:
- Newsletter email address. If you subscribe, your email is stored in Cloudflare KV along with the subscription date. It is used only to send the weekly film picks and a one-time confirmation email, and it is never sold or shared with advertisers.
- Spam and abuse prevention. The subscribe form is protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, a CAPTCHA alternative that checks your browser is human without tracking you across sites. Turnstile's own privacy practices are covered by Cloudflare's privacy policy.
We do not have user accounts, do not require sign-in to watch anything, and do not knowingly collect any personal information beyond what's described above.
Cookies and consent
On your first visit, a cookie banner asks whether you want to allow analytics and advertising. Until you actively say yes, no analytics or ad script runs and no advertising or analytics cookie is set — this is enforced through Google Consent Mode, which defaults every category to denied. You can change your choice at any time by clearing your browser's site data for freeflix.today and reloading the page.
If you consent, we use:
- Cloudflare Web Analytics for aggregate traffic numbers (pages viewed, rough location, device type). It is cookieless and does not fingerprint individual visitors.
- Google AdSense to show ads that keep FreeFlix free. If you consent to ads, Google and its advertising partners may set cookies or use similar technology to select and measure ads, and may use your data for ad personalisation as described in Google's advertising privacy policy. You can review or reset your Google ad settings at adssettings.google.com.
Third-party film players
FreeFlix does not host any film files. Every watch page embeds a player from a third-party source — the Internet Archive, YouTube, or the National Film Board of Canada — and that player only loads once you click play, not when the page first loads. Once you click play, the film plays from that provider's own site inside the page, and that provider's own privacy policy and cookies apply to that playback (for example, YouTube/Google's or the Internet Archive's).
Who processes this data
FreeFlix is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, and the newsletter list lives in Cloudflare KV. Confirmation emails are sent through Cloudflare's Email Sending service. Cloudflare acts as our infrastructure provider for all of the above.
Your choices
To unsubscribe from the newsletter, stop receiving analytics or ad cookies, or ask what data we hold about your email address and have it deleted, email rights@freeflix.today. We respond to every request and will confirm once it's handled.
Children's privacy
FreeFlix is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes to this policy
If how we collect or use data changes, we'll update this page and move the "last updated" date above.
